The laptop cases are made from fish skin and cow leather. The fish skin is an extraordinary, beautiful leather from Iceland, which is similar in quality to snake skin. Every laptop case is unique, as each one is sewn together based on the particular shapes and sizes of the fish skin in question.
The fish skin has a beautiful, distinctive and delicate texture. It is strong and often used for bags and shoes. The Icelandic producer Atlantic Leather is one of the very few companies in the world which have been successful in producing high quality fish skins. They supply their products to big fashion names like Dior and Bottega Veneta for example.
The processing method of the fish-skin has been under development for approximately ten years. It involves tanning the skin, using modern technologies, to create a perfect texture and finish. The salmon skin has a distinctive delicate texture, and a pattern which is centred along the sideline. The Nile Perch, which is caught in Lake Victoria in Africa, has thicker and rougher leather than the salmon. Atlantic Wolffish, which is closely related to the Ocean Catfish, is found in the North Atlantic Ocean and is mostly caught with lures. The skin of the Atlantic Wolffish has natural black spots that are still clearly visible after tanning and colouring. Fjola Maria Design does not use any endangered species in its production.
The cases are designed in Iceland, made from Icelandic fish-leather and Australian cow leather and produced in China by an ISO 9001 quality certified manufacturer.
